Founder's Bio

The Honorable Josh Hanshaft is a Civil Court Judge elected in New York County and has presided over family and criminal cases since ascending to the bench in 2017. 

Judge Hanshaft was a practicing attorney for 25 years before becoming a judge and was admitted in both New York and Connecticut. 

From 1996 to 2013, Judge Hanshaft served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County where he held the position of an Executive Assistant in the Rackets Bureau.  As a prosecutor, Judge Hanshaft tried numerous high profile cases that were routinely featured on the front pages of the New York City Newspapers. 

After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Judge Hanshaft worked at the New York City Council as Counsel to two Committees: Courts and Legal Services and Oversight and Investigation.  

In addition to being the founder of My BarTunes®, Judge Hanshaft is also the  co-creator. He hopes that law school students will find this app helpful on their journey through law school and be an invaluable study aid for those preparing to take the bar exam.
